Variable or fixed
You choose a variable or fixed pension benefit
In the new pension, you choose a variable or fixed pension benefit. Pensioenfonds PGB only offers a variable pension. If you prefer a fixed pension, you can transfer the money in your pension pot to another pension provider. Discover what both options mean.

Variable pension
A variable pension moves with the economy. It can increase more quickly when the economy is doing well. When it is not doing well, your pension can also go down.
How do increases and decreases work?
This depends on the economy. Each year, we review whether we can increase or need to reduce your pension benefit. We have made agreements to limit large changes and reduce the risk of cuts.
- When your pension starts, we invest with less risk.
- We do not use investment results all at once. We spread them over 5 years. So your pension moves gradually with the investments. This limits large changes each year and makes your pension more predictable.
Fixed pension
Pensioenfonds PGB does not offer a fixed pension benefit. You can request quotes for a fixed pension from other pension providers. With a fixed pension, your pension benefit remains broadly the same.
How do increases and decreases work?
This depends on the terms and conditions of the provider you choose. With some providers, your pension amount is fixed. With others, a stable pension is possible, which may increase or decrease slightly.
When do you make this choice?
Do you receive a retirement pension? In 2027, you can choose to switch to a fixed pension with another pension provider. You will receive more information about this.
Do you receive a partner’s pension? Your pension will be variable and will remain with Pensioenfonds PGB.
